As an independent copywriter and good idea engine, I partner with design studios as well as directly with businesses and organizations to project voice and story with meaning, context and intention. I’ve collaborated with everyone from local small businesses to national non-profits to companies with a global presence and across the spectrum from digital to print, installations to packaging, video scripts to workshop facilitation.
For each engagement, I balance the power of the story’s possibilities with the potential to engage the intended audience.
With a background in teaching, I understand how to dive into complex topics and make things both compelling and understandable for the right audience.
The heart of all my work is empathy, community and connection. I put a premium on relationships, open communication and smooth collaboration. Whether running a workshop or participating in a discovery or presenting in a client meeting, I ask the good questions, ensure we're all on the same page and know when to balance brevity with levity, wit with real talk.
In my previous incarnation, I taught at two fantastic independent schools Los Angeles and Chicago. Beyond writing curriculum and being surrounded by brilliant colleagues, these schools afforded me incredible opportunities like traveling the world with students, receiving a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to study cartographic literacy at the Newberry Library and publishing on the social and emotional health of middle schoolers.
A broad liberal arts education means I graduated with loads of student debt and an insatiable curiosity. The debt is gone, hooray!, the curiosity remains. I earned a bachelor degree from Brown University in History and American Civilizations and a masters in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
I live in Oak Park with my front-end developer husband and our copper-topped kiddo. We both work independently so we have the flexibility to be around for all the weird things our daughter says, volunteer in our communities and to take working sabbaticals someplace cool whenever we can. So far we've lived in Reykjavik, Rânes, San Francisco, Christchurch, D.C., Vienna, Cape Town, Vancouver, and a National Parks road trip, and most recently, Copenhagen.
Next Up: Rio de Janiero
Since launching my lil’ studio, I’ve been lucky to write, speak and share as me, myself and I in a few fun places.
